Srinagar, October 22, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Security forces arrested two suspected terror associates in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday and recovered a Turkish-made pistol, ammunition and two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from their possession, officials said.

The arrests were made by troops of the 52 Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police following intelligence inputs. The two men were apprehended in the Darpura Nursery area near Delina Ghat in Baramulla.

During a search, security personnel recovered one Turkish-made pistol, a magazine containing 10 rounds and two IEDs, officials said.

Both arrested men are residents of the Chinkipura area in Sopore subdivision and were allegedly working as overground workers (OGWs), according to officials.

Investigators suspect that the two may have been involved in transporting weapons and explosives for terrorists operating in the region. Further investigation has been initiated to establish the extent of their alleged activities and identify any wider links.

Security agencies use the term overground workers for individuals suspected of providing logistical, material or intelligence support to militant groups without necessarily taking part in armed encounters. Such support can include arranging shelter, transporting weapons and ammunition, and passing information about security force movements.

Officials have increasingly focused on suspected support networks as part of efforts to disrupt militant operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

Further details about the arrests and the investigation are awaited.
