Singer Mika Singh recently shared an amusing story about attempting to enter Amitabh Bachchan’s famous Diwali party without an invitation, prompting the megastar to reveal how his wife, Jaya Bachchan, believes in keeping their home open to guests during festivals.
The anecdote unfolded on the quiz-based reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati, where Mika recalled how he would often pass by the Bachchan residence during Diwali, hoping to receive an invitation to the star-studded gathering.
“Main inke ghar ke aage se jaata tha… Toh jab bhi hoti thi, inki Diwali party bahut mashhoor hoti thi. Bahut se superstar hote the, sabse bade toh khud hi itne bade superstar hain,” Mika said, recalling his wish to attend the celebration someday.
He then described how he used his large car to create the impression that a prominent celebrity was arriving at the party.
“Maine ghar bada nahi liya, meri gaadi bahut badi thi, toh sabko lagta tha ki koi superstar ghoom raha hai us gaadi ke andar,” he said.
Mika recalled driving up to the gate and honking while wearing sunglasses, with the car’s tinted windows helping him maintain the illusion. The security personnel opened the gate, believing a superstar had arrived.
However, Mika soon realised that he had entered without an invitation and decided to reverse his car and leave.
He later received a message from Bachchan inviting him to meet him directly whenever he visited again.
Responding to the story, Bachchan spoke about the welcoming atmosphere at his home during festivals, including Diwali and Holi. He credited Jaya for encouraging the family’s open-house approach.
“Aur humara jo nyota jaata hai… Diwali ka tyohar ho, Holi ka tyohar ho, koi bhi tyohar ho… Jaya ji kehti hain yeh khula ghar hai, jiske aana chahe woh aa sakta hai,” he said.
The exchange offered a glimpse into the festive traditions of the Bachchan household, alongside Mika’s humorous account of his unsuccessful attempt to join one of Bollywood’s most talked-about celebrations.
