The cheques were handed over by Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Tek Singh, SGPC executive committee member Gurpreet Singh Jhabbhar and Deputy Secretary Azad Deep Singh. Bhai Parwinder Singh’s father, Bhai Bhim Singh, was also present on the occasion.

According to the SGPC, Bhai Parvinder Singh Jhota lost his life during an incident that occurred when he raised his voice against the drug trade, while four of his associates sustained serious injuries. Following the incident, Dhami and Giani Tek Singh had met the affected families to express their condolences and announced financial assistance for the injured youths’ treatment and support.

Addressing the gathering, Giani Tek Singh said Bhai Parwinder Singh’s sacrifice in standing up against drugs and trying to save young people from addiction would remain a source of inspiration for the Sikh community.
