India added three bronze medals to its para-badminton tally at the Asian Para Games 2026, with Paralympic champion Pramod Bhagat and Manisha Ramdass, Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, and the pair of Krishna Nagar and Nithya Sre finishing on the podium after their respective semifinal defeats on Thursday.

Bhagat and Ramdass secured bronze in the Mixed Doubles SL3–SU5 event after losing a three-game battle against Indonesia’s Lani Ratri Oktila and Jikmat Ramdani.

The Indian duo made a strong start, winning the opening game 21-16. However, their Indonesian opponents fought back to take the next two games 21-13 and 21-17, winning the match 16-21, 21-13, 21-17 in game-by-game order from the Indonesian pair’s perspective.

In the Men’s Singles SL4 semifinal, Suhas Yathiraj also claimed bronze after a hard-fought encounter against Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan.

Suhas narrowly lost the opening game 21-23 but responded emphatically in the second, dominating his opponent 21-8 to force a decider. The contest remained close until the 11-point mark in the third game, before Setiawan pulled away to win 21-15. The Indonesian thus advanced to the final.

Meanwhile, Paralympic gold medallist Krishna Nagar and Nithya Sre earned bronze in Mixed Doubles SH6 despite losing their semifinal against Indonesia’s Rina Marlina and Subhan.

The Indian pair went down 14-21, 18-21 as the Indonesian duo maintained their advantage in both games to secure a place in the final.

The three podium finishes added to India’s medal haul in para badminton at the continental event.
