The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV & ACB), Jind unit, has arrested State GST ETO Dvesh Sahu for allegedly demanding a Rs. 5 lakh bribe through a private Chartered Accountant (CA). The CA, Ajay Sharma, was also arrested after he was allegedly caught red-handed accepting Rs. 3 lakh on behalf of the officer.
The bureau said the entire bribe amount of Rs. 3 lakh was recovered from Sharma during the trap operation. FIR No. 24, dated September 10, 2026, has been registered at SV & ACB Police Station, Karnal, under Sections 7 and 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
According to the complaint, a notice of Rs. 75,29,559 had been issued to the complainant’s firm, M/s Aman Leyland, Jind, under Section 74 of the SGST and CGST Acts, 2017.
The complainant alleged that ETO Dvesh Sahu demanded Rs. 5 lakh in exchange for not taking further action in connection with the notice. The officer allegedly arranged to receive the bribe through his associate, private CA Ajay Sharma.
After verifying the complaint, the SV & ACB Jind team laid a trap. During the operation, Sharma was allegedly caught accepting Rs. 3 lakh for Sahu. The bureau said the entire amount was recovered from his possession.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
Zero tolerance for corruption: Dr. A.S. Chawla
SV & ACB Haryana Director Dr. A.S. Chawla said the bureau follows a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and that demanding or accepting bribes, either directly or through intermediaries, would not be tolerated.
He said strict legal action would be taken against officials or employees found involved in corrupt practices. Chawla appealed to citizens to report any demand for bribes by government officials or employees by calling the bureau’s toll-free numbers 1800-180-2022 or 1064.
He added that the bureau’s campaign against corruption would continue.
