Fresh Intelligence Inputs Flag Possible LoC Misadventure by Pakistan Amid PoK Unrest

New Delhi, September 10, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Fresh intelligence inputs have flagged the possibility of a major Pakistani misadventure along the Line of Control (LoC), with security officials suspecting that Islamabad may seek to divert attention from the continuing unrest in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK).

The protests in PoK, which have spread across several areas, remain a major concern for Indian security agencies monitoring developments closely. Officials said the Pakistani administration appears to be reassessing its approach as the protests show no immediate signs of subsiding.

According to an Intelligence Bureau official, the Pakistan Army had initially ordered a forceful crackdown on protesters. While security forces continue to use force, the administration has reportedly begun softening its approach amid signs that political parties such as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which initially backed the military line, are no longer completely aligned with it.

Officials believe Pakistan’s military leadership may be looking for an external distraction. Field Marshal Asim Munir, who had reportedly ruled out any compromise with the protesters, is facing growing internal pressure over the unrest in PoK and violence in other regions, including Balochistan.

One official said a possible LoC misadventure could involve a limited skirmish designed to trigger an Indian military response, potentially accompanied by an infiltration attempt.

Security agencies are consequently maintaining a high level of alert along the LoC and across Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), where officials have also warned of the possibility of a major terror attack. According to the inputs, the ISI has long been working on plans to encourage recruitment of local youth for terrorist activities.

Officials said comparisons being drawn by people in PoK between their living conditions and those in J&K have further embarrassed the Pakistani establishment. They believe a major attack in J&K, potentially on the scale of the Pulwama or Pahalgam strikes, could be used to shift public and political attention away from the unrest in Pakistan-administered territory.

Security officials also pointed to recent activities by alleged proxies such as the United Liberation Council (ULC), which has issued threat notes targeting Kashmiri Pandits and migrant workers and called upon locals to take up arms against the administration.

Meanwhile, a major strike has disrupted normal life across PoK. Markets and businesses remain closed following a call by the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee for mass protests. Thousands have reportedly continued a sit-in in Rawalakot despite the presence of Pakistani security forces, while similar protests have been reported from Bhimber, Mirpur, Neelum Valley and Muzaffarabad.

With the unrest continuing, officials said security agencies remain on high alert for any attempt to escalate tensions along the LoC or trigger violence in J&K.
