Singer-composer Amaal Malik has reflected on the enduring appeal of ‘Sau Aasmaan’, saying revisiting the song a decade after its release feels like taking a “little musical road trip.”
The song, featuring Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra in ‘Baar Baar Dekho,’ completed 10 years on Wednesday. Looking back on its creation, Amaal recalled the enjoyable experience of composing the peppy romantic track.
“Armaan and Neeti brought such amazing energy to this peppy romantic number, and Armaan and I have some wonderful memories from recording it,” Amaal said.
He also praised the song’s visual presentation and expressed happiness that it has continued to remain popular with listeners over the years.
“It’s one of the most beautifully shot songs, and I’m so happy it has remained a favourite with audiences for 10 years. Even today, hearing it takes me straight back to those recording days; it still feels like a little musical road trip!” he added.
Singer Neeti Mohan, who lent her voice to the track, said the song remains particularly close to her heart because of its romantic and carefree quality.
“‘Sau Aasmaan’ has always been very close to my heart. It has that rare quality of making you want to pack your bags, fall in love, and just get away somewhere beautiful,” she said.
Neeti added that she enjoys seeing the song feature in children’s dance performances and at weddings, saying it evokes happy and nostalgic memories for listeners.
Armaan Malik also said both the film and the song would always have a special place in his heart. He noted that creating a dance-friendly Bollywood love song with a breezy, summery and EDM-influenced sound while retaining its romantic soul was a challenging task.
He expressed gratitude that ‘Sau Aasmaan’ continues to resonate with audiences a decade later, saying there is something special about creating music that becomes part of people’s memories.
