Punjab Police conducted 551 raids across the state on Friday as the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign entered its 227th day, targeting identified locations linked to associates of gangsters.
The statewide operation, launched by Punjab Police Director General Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, is being carried out by district police teams in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab.
During the latest operations, police arrested 225 individuals and recovered two weapons. With these arrests, the total number of people arrested under the campaign has reached 67,864.
Police teams also initiated preventive action against 252 individuals and arrested eight proclaimed offenders during the day’s operations.
The police appealed to the public to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946. The information can be provided anonymously.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Police’s anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, also continued. On its 552nd day, police arrested 67 alleged drug smugglers and recovered 235 grams of heroin, 470 grams of opium, 5,294 intoxicant pills and Rs 2,250 in drug money.
With the latest arrests, the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has risen to 77,124 in 552 days.
As part of its de-addiction and rehabilitation efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 10 individuals on Friday to undergo treatment for drug dependence and rehabilitation.
The police said both campaigns are being pursued through sustained enforcement and preventive measures aimed at curbing organised crime and the drug trade across Punjab.
