The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed that its fighters took control of Sarnan town in Balochistan’s Pishin district during an operation in which a police station was destroyed in an explosion and government buildings were set ablaze.
According to reports, the BLA said its fighters entered Sarnan on Thursday, seized weapons and ammunition from the police station and subsequently blew up the building. Several police personnel were reportedly detained during the operation and later released. The NADRA office and other government facilities were also reportedly targeted.
BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch claimed responsibility for the operation and said the group had taken “complete control” of the town. The claims could not be independently verified.
The developments were followed by another claim from Baloch human rights activist Mir Yar Baloch, who said armed Baloch fighters had captured the Kahatan Police Station in the Bolan area and set it on fire after taking police records, weapons and ammunition.
He also claimed that Baloch armed groups were expanding their control in parts of the province, although the claim could not be independently verified.
Local reports further said armed fighters established road blockades and seized commercial vehicles on major highways in areas including Kalat, Mastung, Kharan, Chagai and Washuk, disrupting traffic.
The Balochistan Post also reported an ambush on Pakistani forces in Kalat as they moved into the area in armoured vehicles. The reported attack came a day after security personnel near Makai in Manguchar were targeted by an improvised explosive device. Reports claimed six Pakistani personnel were killed in that incident.
The latest developments come amid a recent escalation in attacks by Baloch armed groups against Pakistani security forces and government infrastructure across Balochistan.
