Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan celebrated filmmaker and father David Dhawan’s 75th birthday on Sunday with a warm social media tribute, describing him as the “chillest dad”.
Varun shared a photograph on Instagram in which he could be seen hugging his father from behind as the two smiled for the camera.
“Happy birthday to the chillest dad..75 hard,” Varun wrote in the caption.
Actress Karisma Kapoor, who has worked with David Dhawan on several films, joined the birthday wishes, commenting, “Happy 75th to Davidji.”
David Dhawan celebrated the milestone with friends and colleagues from the film industry. Writer-director Rumy Jafry shared glimpses from the birthday gathering on social media, including a photograph featuring David with Salman Khan, Varun and other guests.
Filmmaker-producer Sajid Nadiadwala was also among those present at the celebration. Another photograph captured Varun kissing his father on the cheek as guests applauded the father-son moment. The celebrations also included a cake-cutting ceremony, with guests gathering around David.
David and Varun have collaborated on several films over the years. Their first project together was the 2014 romantic comedy ‘Main Tera Hero’, which also starred Ileana D’Cruz and Nargis Fakhri.
The father-son duo reunited in 2017 for ‘Judwaa 2’, a reboot of David Dhawan’s popular film ‘Judwaa’. Varun played the dual roles of Raja and Prem in the film.
They subsequently worked together on ‘Coolie No. 1’, the remake of David’s 1995 film of the same name, which originally starred Govinda. The remake featured Sara Ali Khan opposite Varun.
Varun and David Dhawan have collaborated again this year on the romantic entertainer ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’, which also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde.
