The final ardas for Manjit Singh Manauli, father of Information and Public Relations Officer Amanpreet Singh Manauli, was held at Gurdwara Dhakki Sahib in Sector 82, Mohali, on Sunday. Manjit Singh Manauli had served the Punjabi Tribune for nearly 36 years.
Amanpreet Singh Manauli, who has previously served as District Public Relations Officer in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, is currently posted on media duty at the Chief Minister’s Office, Punjab, Chandigarh.
People from journalism, government, politics and social life, along with serving and retired officials of the Information and Public Relations Department, attended the religious ceremony and paid their respects to the departed soul while expressing condolences to the bereaved family.
Speakers recalled Manjit Singh Manauli’s long association with the Punjabi Tribune and praised his contribution to the organisation, professional commitment and integrity. They noted that he served the newspaper under successive editors, from its founding editor, Barjinder Singh Hamdard, to Varinder Singh Walia.
Among those who spoke on the occasion were Dainik Tribune Editor Naresh Kaushal, retired Punjabi Tribune Special Correspondent Jagtar Singh Sidhu, Sukhdev Singh Patwari of Press Club Mohali and Additional Director of the Information and Public Relations Department Randeep Singh Ahluwalia.
Those present included Media Adviser to the Chief Minister Anil Saini, Joint Directors Preet Kanwal Singh and Ishwinder Singh Grewal, Deputy Director Navdeep Singh Gill, Punjabi Tribune Editor Arvinder Pal Kaur Johal, Punjab-Chandigarh Journalists Union president Jai Singh Chhibber, Tribune Employees Union president Anil Gupta, Sham Singh ‘Ang Sang’, Press Club Chandigarh president Saurav Duggal and general secretary Rajesh Dhall.
Representatives of Press Club Mohali, including Gurmeet Singh Shahi, Sukhdev Singh Patwari and Manjit Chana, besides a large number of retired journalists and former Information and Public Relations Department officials, also attended.
From the political sphere, former Cabinet Minister Balbir Singh, Kuljit Singh Bedi and Parminder Singh Sohana attended the ceremony, paid tribute to Manjit Singh Manauli and conveyed their condolences to Amanpreet Singh Manauli and his family.
