Actress Tina Ahuja has praised her father Govinda’s distinctive fashion sense from the 1990s, saying she has always enjoyed his colourful style, movies and songs.
Speaking exclusively to IANS on the sidelines of Bombay Couture Week 2026, Tina was asked about Govinda’s penchant for wearing bright colours in his films and whether his fashion choices should have been different.
“Personally, it worked for him, and he enjoyed it, so as far as he was enjoying it, I was enjoying looking at him and people enjoyed looking at him. So that’s what matters,” she said.
Asked whether she felt Govinda should have adopted the more traditionally stylish looks associated with some other actors of the 1990s, Tina disagreed.
“No, I didn’t feel that at all because I myself am a Govinda fan, so I used to enjoy all his movies and his style, his songs. They were, like, too good, I feel,” she said.
Govinda and Sunita Ahuja got married in March 1987 and reportedly kept their marriage private until the birth of their daughter Tina in 1988.
Their personal life has recently attracted renewed attention following speculation surrounding Govinda’s relationship with Komal Rani. Govinda was recently spotted with Rani at Lalbaugcha Raja, prompting discussions online.
Tina was also recently approached by paparazzi for a response to the controversy after allegations concerning her mother were posted on Instagram.
Asked about the claims, Tina chose not to comment on the matter and instead requested that the conversation remain focused on the occasion.
“Yeh wali jagah par please hum isi ke baare mein baat karte hain. Thank you,” she said.
While Tina avoided discussing her family’s ongoing personal controversy, she remained candid about her admiration for her father’s on-screen persona, particularly the flamboyant fashion and entertainment style that became a defining part of Govinda’s 1990s image.
