The Punjab State Women Commission has taken suo motu notice of a complaint alleging that BJP leader Surjit Kumar Jyani used derogatory language against Aam Aadmi Party leader from Fazilka, Suhani Doda, during a recent political programme in Abohar.
Punjab State Women Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill said the Commission acted on the complaint received from Doda as well as news reports aired on television channels regarding the alleged remarks.
According to the complaint and the reports cited by the Commission, the alleged incident took place during a political programme organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk in Abohar.
The Commission has directed the Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka, to have the matter investigated by a senior police officer of SP rank. The SSP has also been asked to submit a report to the Commission regarding the action taken in the matter by September 25, 2026.
The Commission’s action follows the allegations made in the complaint; the notice itself does not establish the allegations as fact.
