Rajasthan Governor and Chancellor Haribhau Bagade has appointed new Vice-Chancellors for three major state universities, including the University of Rajasthan in Jaipur, according to orders issued by the Governor’s Secretariat.
Dr Bhagwati Prasad Saraswat has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, while Dr Yudhveer Singh will head Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Shekhawati University in Sikar. Prof. Narsi Ram Bishnoi has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner.
The appointments were issued by Governor Bagade in consultation with the Rajasthan government led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the orders stated.
Dr Saraswat is currently serving as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kota. His appointment to the University of Rajasthan comes after a prolonged process to fill the top administrative position at the Jaipur-based institution.
As Vice-Chancellor, Saraswat will oversee the university’s academic and administrative affairs, including matters concerning students and campus governance.
Dr Yudhveer Singh will take charge at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Shekhawati University in Sikar, while Prof. Narsi Ram Bishnoi will lead Maharaja Ganga Singh University in Bikaner.
The appointments bring new leadership to the three institutions after the selection process for the Vice-Chancellor posts remained pending for an extended period.
According to the Governor’s orders, each of the three appointees will hold office for three years from the date of assuming charge or until attaining the age of 70, whichever is earlier.
The appointments will become effective once the newly appointed Vice-Chancellors assume charge at their respective universities. They will thereafter be responsible for overseeing academic, administrative and campus-related affairs.
