Popular television show ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ is set to make way for a new supernatural drama, ‘Apsara’, on Star Plus. The makers have unveiled the first look of the upcoming series, which stars Samiksha Jaiswal and Paras Kalnawat in the lead roles.
‘Apsara’ revolves around an apsara who becomes the link between an ancient power and those seeking to possess it. The supernatural saga promises a mix of power, love, responsibility and conflict.
Produced by Mukta Dhond, the show also features Anushka Merchande, Adaa Khan, Avika Gor, Mona Vasu and Poorva Gokhale in key roles.
Jaiswal will play Sunehri, an apsara entrusted with protecting the Amrit from evil forces. The actress said she was drawn to the character because of the way Sunehri balances her responsibility as the guardian of the Amrit with her attachment to the people she loves.
“There is something exciting about playing an Apsara whose story goes beyond her beauty. I play Sunehri, who has the extraordinary responsibility of protecting the Amrit from evil forces. At the same time, she has people she loves and wants to keep safe,” Jaiswal said.
She added that Sunehri’s courage and choices define her character, describing her as someone who experiences fear and worry but still finds the strength to confront challenges.
“An Apsara isn’t waiting for her hero. She is the hero,” Jaiswal said.
‘Apsara’ is scheduled to premiere on October 21 at 10:30 PM on Star Plus. The show will also stream on JioHotstar.
