Experienced batter Mandeep Singh has returned to the Tripura squad for the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy season after being named in the 18-member team for its opening three matches against Hyderabad, Assam and Karnataka.
Tripura will play Hyderabad in Secunderabad, Assam in Guwahati and Karnataka in Mysuru.
Mandeep, who has represented India in three T20Is, previously captained Tripura during the 2024-25 domestic season after ending a 15-year association with Punjab. During that stint, he played six Ranji Trophy matches, six Vijay Hazare Trophy games and seven Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches.
In the Ranji Trophy, Mandeep scored an unbeaten 124 and registered five half-centuries. He also made three fifties in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, including a highest score of 94 against Bengal, besides two half-centuries in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
The right-handed batter missed the entire 2025-26 domestic season before returning to the north-eastern side.
Mandeep is joined in the Tripura squad by fellow outstation recruits Hanuma Vihari and Swapnil Singh. Experienced seam-bowling all-rounder Mani Sankar Mura Singh will captain the side, while pacer Abhijit Sarkar has been named vice-captain. Sarkar was part of the East Zone side that won the 2026 Duleep Trophy.
Tripura have also revamped their support staff, appointing former domestic cricketer and umpire Satrajit Lahiri as head coach. Lahiri was part of the East Zone team that won the Deodhar Trophy in 1996-97 and holds Level C coaching certification from the BCCI as well as Level 3 credentials from the England and Wales Cricket Board.
He will be assisted by batting coach Aniruddha Saha, bowling coach Rajib Saha, physiotherapist Deepti Ranjan Parida, strength and conditioning coach Yuvraj Salvi, throwdown specialist Jayanta Debnath, masseur Niloyjyoti Saha and video analyst Partha Banik.
