The Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) has arrested a patwari posted in the Ganaur tehsil area of Sonipat district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 90,000.
The accused, identified as Halka Patwari Sachin, allegedly demanded the money from a complainant in exchange for entering loan-related details concerning a firm’s land in the revenue records.
Acting on the complaint, the SV&ACB team verified the allegations and subsequently laid a trap. The accused patwari was arrested while allegedly accepting the bribe amount, officials said.
The trap operation was conducted by the SV&ACB Unit, Bhiwani, in the presence of Gazetted Officer Dayachand Rohilla, XEN, HVPNL, Bhiwani.
The bureau said prescribed procedures under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, were followed during the trap operation. Further investigation into the case is underway.
The SV&ACB also appealed to citizens to report any demand for bribes by government officials or employees in connection with legitimate work. Complaints, including photographs, videos or audio evidence, can also be submitted through the ‘Satark-Haryana’ mobile application.
Citizens can additionally contact the bureau’s toll-free anti-corruption helpline at 1064 to report bribery-related complaints.
The bureau said active public participation was essential for strengthening transparency and accountability in the government system.
