Writer Chris Papasadero says the growing convergence of corporate and government power was the central inspiration behind Ghost Soldier, an action-thriller starring Jim Caviezel that follows a man taking on powerful forces threatening his community.
Papasadero said he wanted to create a story in which an ordinary hero could fight back against the growing nexus between corporate interests and government authority.
“It was seeing the convergence of corporate and government power and wanting to write a story in which a hero can fight back against that convergence,” he said.
The writer also identified a confrontation between the protagonist, Henry “Fitz” Fitzgerald, and his handler, Peary, as his favourite scene to write. In the exchange, Fitz questions who truly holds power when corporations exert control over governments.
Papasadero said the dialogue captures a key dimension of the character’s struggle and the larger conflict explored in the film.
Caviezel, who plays Fitz, said the film also reflects the instinct to protect one’s home, family and community. He spoke about the importance of people standing together and doing what is right even when faced with difficult circumstances.
The film opens with a quote attributed to Mark Twain about the historical struggle over land ownership, setting the tone for its central themes of power, ownership and resistance.
In Ghost Soldier, Fitz is a solitary man with a mysterious past who lives off the grid in his hometown. His quiet existence is disrupted when a powerful foreign corporation moves to acquire his land and that of his neighbours for a major commercial project.
A former Special Forces soldier and advanced weapons developer, Fitz draws on his military experience and unconventional weapons to confront the forces threatening his community.
Produced and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing International, the action-thriller is scheduled for an exclusive theatrical release in India on November 13, 2026.
