Islamabad, November 6, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

An 18-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead by her uncle in a suspected honour-related killing in Oghi town of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, while two other people were injured in a subsequent shooting, according to local media reports.

The accused allegedly killed his niece at their home before going outside and opening fire on a man believed to be her paramour and his cousin. Both sustained injuries, and police arrested the suspect while he was allegedly attempting to flee.

“The suspect first shot dead his niece at home and then went outside and opened fire on her alleged paramour and his cousin. We arrested him when he was fleeing,” District Police Officer Mohammad Waqas Khan was quoted as saying by Dawn.

Khan said two FIRs had been registered in connection with the incident. Police suspect the killing may have been linked to the local chor custom, described in reports as an honour-related practice.

In one of the FIRs, Naveed Ahmed, 22, said he and his sister had moved to their paternal uncle Umarzada’s home in Oghi after their father died eight years ago. He alleged that Umarzada shot and killed his sister.

The woman’s body was taken to a hospital for medico-legal formalities before being handed over to the family.

The incident comes amid another suspected honour killing reported in Pakistan last month. On October 22, a couple who had married of their own choice were shot dead inside a passenger coach on the National Highway near VIG Gate in Sindh’s Sukkur district.

Police arrested two suspects, Abdul Malik Samejo and Abdul Hanan Samejo, along with a repeater shotgun. Investigators said the killings appeared to have been committed in the name of honour.

A free-will affidavit dated September 28, 2026, identified the woman as Sidra. In the document, she alleged that her former husband, Abdul Hanan, had mistreated her before divorcing her in 2024. She also stated that relatives had pressured her to marry someone against her wishes.

Sidra said she married Deedar Ali in April 2026 of her own choice and feared threats from relatives, including her former husband. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the couple’s killing.
