A massive fire broke out at a car showroom in the Saidulajab area of south Delhi’s Saket on Friday, gutting several vehicles worth crores of rupees, officials said.
Teams from the Delhi Police and Fire Department rushed to the spot. A cooling operation was underway, and further details were awaited.
The incident came hours after another major fire broke out at a mobile accessories shop in Gaffar Market, spreading across all floors of a four-storey commercial building. BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal, who visited the site, said around 20-25 shops may have been affected.
According to Delhi Police, a PCR call about the fire at a building in Chain Wali Gali was received at Karol Bagh Police Station at 1.28 a.m. Police personnel, along with the Station House Officer, reached the spot and found the fire at Shop No. 13/21, Puri Plaza.
The building houses businesses dealing in mobile accessories. Preliminary information suggested that the fire originated in a ground-floor shop where mobile batteries were stored before spreading to the upper floors.
Around 20-25 fire tenders, three CAT ambulances and two PCR vehicles were deployed for firefighting and relief operations. No casualties or injuries were reported, though property damage was recorded.
Khandelwal said the fire reportedly started around midnight and spread rapidly. He added that some traders managed to retrieve their goods. BJP MP Yogendra Chandolia also described the incident as unfortunate and expressed relief that no lives were lost.
Police said overheating or overcharging of batteries appeared to be a possible cause of the Gaffar Market fire, though the exact reason had not been established.
