Filming of the latest season of Kaun Banega Crorepati has reportedly been put on hold for a week amid concerns over the health of its host, megastar Amitabh Bachchan. The channel has meanwhile been airing previously recorded episodes, including special editions featuring celebrity guests.
According to a source familiar with the show’s production, the makers have temporarily stopped shooting new episodes as Bachchan has not been keeping well. Filming is expected to resume next week, subject to the actor’s health.
The last major celebrity episode filmed before the pause featured Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Ravi Dubey, who appeared on the quiz show to promote their upcoming film Ramayan.
The episode was initially planned to coincide with the film’s release. However, the production schedule was reportedly revised, and the channel included it in its Diwali special week, which began last week.
Bachchan also reflected on his gradual return to routine in a blog post on Saturday, describing the transition back to work and a structured life.
He wrote about occasionally forgetting where he had left everyday belongings, such as his glasses and mobile phone, or what he had intended to do next. In contrast, he observed that memories of his school days in Class 8 in 1960 remained vivid.
The veteran actor also expressed gratitude to his blog followers, those who visit him on Sundays and the Kaun Banega Crorepati audience for their continued affection and support.
Bachchan has hosted the popular quiz show for several seasons and shares a longstanding connection with its viewers.
His health has remained a subject of public concern since his near-fatal accident on the sets of Coolie in 1982, when he sustained a serious abdominal injury during a fight sequence. After undergoing multiple surgeries, he recovered and returned home on August 2, a date he has described as his “second birthday”.
There has been no official announcement from the show’s makers detailing the reason for the current filming break.
