Foreign Investors Pour Rs 45,960 Crore Into Indian Equities in a Week, DIIs Turn Net Sellers

Mumbai, Nov 7, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) made a strong return to the Indian stock market this week, emerging as net buyers of Rs 45,960 crore across all five trading sessions and extending their buying streak to a second consecutive week.

The latest inflows mark a sharp reversal after a 10-week selling spell. Foreign investors’ purchases during the week also more than offset the Rs 45,162 crore they had withdrawn from Indian equities in October.

Domestic institutional investors (DIIs), meanwhile, turned net sellers, offloading shares worth Rs 24,197 crore over the five sessions. Their selling ended an 11-week buying streak, with investors booking profits amid a sharp market rally.

According to Pabitro Mukherjee, Deputy Vice President-Research at Bajaj Broking, net institutional buying of Rs 21,764 crore provided significant support to the market. Activity was particularly strong on Thursday and Friday, when FIIs bought Rs 28,724 crore while DIIs sold shares worth Rs 16,413 crore.

The buying momentum helped benchmark indices extend their gains to seven consecutive trading sessions, the longest such winning run in three years.

On Friday, the BSE Sensex surged 1,718.01 points, or 2.17 per cent, to close at 81,028.02. The NSE Nifty climbed 493.75 points, or 2.01 per cent, to settle at 25,030.35.

Analysts said Indian equities recorded one of their strongest weekly rallies, with benchmark indices gaining more than 8.5 per cent. Renewed foreign fund inflows, robust corporate earnings and easing geopolitical tensions contributed to the positive sentiment. Lower bond yields and a sharp decline in crude oil prices also supported the rally.

Buying interest remained broad-based across key market segments, although analysts cautioned that the durability of foreign investment flows would be crucial in the coming weeks.

With domestic institutions booking profits, continued FII support could become an important factor in sustaining the market’s upward momentum.

The new Samvat trading year will begin with a holiday-shortened week, starting with the Muhurat trading session on Sunday.
