Actress Shweta Tripathi believes Diwali gifts should be chosen with the recipient’s interests and personality in mind, rather than following a standard approach of giving everyone the same kind of present.
Sharing her festive gifting preferences, the actress said she particularly enjoys receiving books and would be delighted to get one on any occasion or festival.
“I think Diwali gifts should be useful. I don’t like gifts that serve no purpose at all. Sometimes there are hampers and PR gifts, but I feel one gift fits all should not be the approach. If you are gifting someone, keep that person in mind,” Shweta said in an interview.
She added that the personality of the person giving a gift matters, but the preferences of the person receiving it should be equally important.
“I love books, so if someone gifts me a book on every occasion, every season or every festival, I would be more than happy,” she said.
The actress also shared details of her latest creative collaboration with Shringar, a bindi store. Through her Team Batata Vada initiative, she has designed a bindi collection titled ‘Jhilmil’.
Describing the collection, Shweta said it was created for anyone who enjoys adding a little sparkle to everyday life. She also revealed that the team had decorated its shop in Santacruz for the festive season.
On the professional front, Shweta has reprised her role in Mirzapur: The Movie, which brings the popular crime drama franchise from the streaming platform to the big screen.
The film features several familiar faces from the series, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi, Rasika Dugal as Beena Tripathi and Shriya Pilgaonkar. Ravi Kishan, Jitendra Kumar, Mohit Malik, Sheeba Chaddha and Sonal Chauhan are also part of the cast.
Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written and created by Puneet Krishna, the film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment. It was released in cinemas on September 4, 2026.
The original Mirzapur series premiered in 2018, followed by its second season in 2020 and third season in 2024.
