Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday described the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad’s (ABVP) victory in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections as a “message” to forces that, according to him, seek to use youth power for an “anti-national agenda”.
The ABVP won three of the four posts in the DUSU elections, while the remaining post was secured by an Independent candidate.
In a post on X, Shah said Delhi University is not merely a university as students from across the country come there to study, adding that the mandate reflects the sentiments of youth across India.
“The youth of the country today stand firmly with the ideology of ‘Nation First’,” Shah said, describing this as the biggest message of the election mandate.
In another post, the Home Minister congratulated ABVP workers on the organisation’s victory and said the result reflected what he termed the youth’s faith in the ABVP’s “Nation First” ideology and its commitment to student welfare.
Shah also expressed confidence that ABVP workers, drawing energy from the victory and following the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, would continue to work for student interests and nation-building.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also congratulated ABVP workers, describing the victory as a symbol of what he called the youth’s “unwavering faith” in the “Nation First” policy.
Singh said he was confident that ABVP would continue working for student interests, national service and nation-building.
BJP President Nitin Nabin similarly said the result reflected what he described as the youth’s continued faith in positive and constructive student politics rooted in the “Nation First” approach, along with their resolve to contribute to the vision of a “Viksit Bharat”.
