Patna, October 26, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Bihar is likely to witness rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds from October 28 to November 1 as the developing cyclonic storm ‘Arnab’ over the Bay of Bengal influences weather conditions across the state. An orange alert has been issued for October 29, when some areas could receive heavy rainfall.
The weather system is expected to approach the Andhra Pradesh coast on October 28. Although Bihar is not forecast to face a direct landfall impact, its indirect effects could trigger unsettled weather, particularly in northern districts.
Easterly winds have strengthened over Bihar, accompanied by rising humidity. Wind speeds could reach 40-50 kmph during the period, with thunderstorms and lightning posing additional risks.
The forecast indicates a yellow alert for certain districts on October 28, followed by an orange alert on October 29. Rainfall activity could continue in parts of the state through November 1.
Weather conditions on October 26 and 27 are expected to remain largely dry. Patna, Muzaffarpur and other areas are likely to experience sunny weather, with relatively cooler mornings and evenings. Maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 30 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures near 21 degrees Celsius.
The anticipated rain and strong winds could damage standing crops, fruit-bearing trees and temporary structures. Lightning also poses a threat to people, livestock and property.
Farmers have been advised to monitor official forecasts and take precautions to protect crops and agricultural equipment. Residents should avoid sheltering under trees or near electric poles during thunderstorms and move to sturdy buildings when lightning occurs.
Authorities have urged people to follow official weather advisories and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain and strong winds.
