Gandhinagar, October 27, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate a 2.62-km forest eco-trail at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat on October 31, adding a new nature-based tourism attraction to the area surrounding the Statue of Unity.

Named ‘Trail of United India’, the project has been developed in Limdi village by the Statue of Unity Area Development and Tourism Governance Authority (SoUADTGA). The trail is designed to combine a forest experience with exhibits highlighting India’s cultural diversity, wildlife, heritage and spiritual traditions.

The inauguration coincides with Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, or National Unity Day, observed annually on October 31 to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The trail features five thematic zones focusing on wildlife and nature, youth, women’s empowerment, heritage and spirituality. Exhibits and artistic sculptures across these zones will showcase the country’s natural wealth, social development and diverse cultural traditions.

Alongside its educational and cultural features, the attraction is intended to promote awareness of biodiversity and environmental conservation. Visitors will be able to explore the forest surroundings through walking tours and trekking, with opportunities for wildlife observation and environmental learning.

Facilities along the route include an entrance, parking area, ticket booth, information centre, multi-purpose gazebo, bio-toilets and drinking water points. A bamboo watchtower, trail maps, directional signboards and stone seating areas have also been provided.

The project is expected to expand tourism-related activity and create opportunities for local employment and livelihoods.

The new attraction will complement existing destinations around Ekta Nagar, including the Statue of Unity, which has attracted more than three crore visitors since its inauguration. Authorities have been developing additional facilities to accommodate growing tourist interest and encourage visitors to spend more time in the region.

By combining nature, heritage and the theme of national unity, the ‘Trail of United India’ is intended to broaden the tourism experience around the Sardar Sarovar area.
