Mumbai, August 13, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Music composer Amaal Mallik, who has consistently spoken about artistes’ rights in the music industry, has opened up about his fearless approach and strong sense of right and wrong.
Amaal, who has composed Yeh Awarapan for the upcoming Emraan Hashmi-starrer Awarapan 2, spoke to IANS during the film’s promotions in Mumbai’s BKC area.
Discussing his attitude towards his work and career, Amaal said he does not consciously try to project himself as fearless.
“I think I am only fearless. I have not balanced anything. I am a vagabond. There is no principle. I’m not fearless just for show-off,” he said.
Amaal, who made his debut as a composer at the age of 23, said delivering good work is what ultimately earns an artiste recognition.
“I was 23 when I made my debut. Everyone has done a good job. I think I have also done a good job, which is why people have remembered it. When you could do a good job, you automatically become fearless,” he said.
Speaking about the music industry, Amaal said there is a competitive system involving a large number of composers, while established senior musicians occupy a separate space.
“There is a system where 15-20 composers come. There are some seniors, who are not a part of this system, they are in a separate league. I don’t say that I consider myself at the level of seniors or at the level of juniors. I don’t consider myself at anyone’s level,” he said.
Awarapan 2 is the sequel to the 2007 film Awarapan, with Emraan Hashmi returning as Shivam Pandit. Although the original film did not perform strongly at the box office on release, it developed a loyal following over the years and attained cult status, particularly for its music and Hashmi’s performance.
Awarapan 2 is scheduled to release on August 14, 2026.
