Punjab Police conducted 624 raids across the state on Wednesday as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, targeting identified locations linked to gangsters and their associates.
The campaign, launched by Punjab Police Director General Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, aims to make the state free of gangster-related crime. Special operations are being carried out by district police teams in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF).
On the 204th day of the campaign, police reported arrests of 624 individuals and recovery of seven weapons, taking the cumulative number of arrests since the launch of the drive to 59,987.
Preventive action was also taken against 236 individuals, while 17 proclaimed offenders were arrested during the statewide operation.
The police appealed to the public to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946. Information can be provided anonymously.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Police continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 529th day.
Police arrested 93 alleged drug smugglers during the day’s operation and recovered 1.3 kg of heroin, 811 intoxicant pills and Rs 9,100 in suspected drug money. The cumulative number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has reached 75,745.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, the police also persuaded 15 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Wednesday.
