Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, marked International Youth Day on Wednesday with its Student Induction Programme (SIP-2026) and “MRSPTU Youth Connect 2026”, giving newly admitted students an engaging and inspirational start to their university journey.
Bathinda Mayor Padamjeet Singh Mehta and Guljit Singh Shah, Chief Functionary of Guru Harkrishan Educational Society, Chandigarh, attended the programme as Guests of Honour.
Addressing the students, Mehta encouraged them to pursue their aspirations with dedication, confidence and a positive outlook. He also announced an upcoming open gym exclusively for girl students at the university hostel and a special bus stand to facilitate university students.
Shah urged students to remain focused on their academic goals and assured them that financial constraints should not become a barrier to education. He said the Guru Harkrishan Educational Society had provided around Rs 15 lakh in financial assistance to MRSPTU students and approximately Rs 3.5 crore to students across the country.
MRSPTU Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Sharma extended greetings on International Youth Day and highlighted the role of young people in nation-building. He encouraged students to approach university life with discipline, innovation and enthusiasm.
The “MRSPTU Youth Connect 2026” segment, organised by the Public Relations Department in association with the Student Ambassador Team, provided a platform for students to showcase their talent through singing, dance, rap, poetry and other cultural performances. Er. Sahil Garg, Social Media In-charge, played a key role in organising the event.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Gagandeep Singh Sodhi and Dr. Haramritpal Singh Sidhu, Admission Coordinators, along with Prof. Sunita Kotwal, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering.
Dr. Ved Prakash, Coordinator, SIP-2026, and S. Harjinder Singh Sidhu, Director, Public Relations, facilitated the winners, while Dr. Anumeet Kaur Sidhu, Assistant Professor, ECE, served as judge for the talent competitions.
In the dance competition, Radha won the first prize and Jashandeep Kaur secured the second prize. In singing, Naveen Jaisal bagged the first prize, while Onkarpreet Singh won the second prize.
The celebration concluded with enthusiastic participation from students and encouraging messages from the distinguished guests, making SIP-2026 a memorable beginning to the new students’ university journey.
