Actress Himani Shivpuri has remembered veteran actor Mushtaq Khan following his death, sharing a throwback picture of the two and recalling their long association across films and television.
The picture, originally shared by Mushtaq Khan, features Shivpuri and the actor together in character, with Lata Mangeshkar’s Yeh Jeevan Hai playing in the background. Shivpuri appears in an orange religious outfit with a head covering and prayer beads, while Khan is seen beside her in a striped shirt.
The still appears to be from the 2015 Hindi film Kala Sach: The Black Truth, in which Khan played Kanhaiya and Shivpuri portrayed Bhaktin.
Sharing the image on social media, Shivpuri wrote, “Suprabhat! RIP Mushtaq bhai. Done so many films, TV shows with you. Will miss you!”
Shivpuri and Khan worked together on several projects over the years. Their collaborations included David Dhawan’s Ek Aur Ek Gyarah, where Shivpuri played the mother of Tara and Sitara, while Khan portrayed Inspector Bahadur Singh. They also appeared together in the 2018 film When Obama Loved Osama.
Shivpuri has had an extensive career across Hindi cinema and television, with films such as Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Pardes, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Anjaam and Mehndi among her credits. Her television work includes Humrahi, Ghar Ek Sapnaa, Baat Hamari Pakki Hai, Sasural Simar Ka and Happu Ki Ultan Paltan.
Khan was a familiar face in Hindi cinema, television and theatre, particularly through supporting and comic roles. His filmography included Aashiqui, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, Sadak, Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Jodi No. 1, Hera Pheri, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Welcome, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Rowdy Rathore, Gadar 2, Badhaai Do and Stree 2.
Among his best-known performances was his role in Anees Bazmee’s 2007 comedy Welcome, in which he played a former hockey player with an artificial leg.
Mushtaq Khan died in Mumbai on September 24, 2026, after undergoing treatment for cancer.
