Rae Bareli, September 8, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi will begin a two-day visit to his parliamentary constituency of Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, during which he is scheduled to review ongoing development projects and assess the situation in flood-affected areas.
Gandhi will chair a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA), where officials are preparing detailed reports on the progress of various government development schemes, pending cases and issues requiring attention.
A department-wise report is also being compiled on the action taken on directions issued during the previous DISHA meeting. The earlier meeting was chaired by Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma.
As part of his visit, Gandhi is expected to travel to flood-affected areas in Shivgarh and Maharajganj, where he is likely to interact with residents, hear about the difficulties being faced by local people and take stock of damage caused by the recent floods, sources said.
Administrative departments have been compiling relevant information to place before the DISHA meeting, including the status of development schemes and pending matters.
Gandhi’s visit comes as Rae Bareli continues to focus on development issues ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. His interaction with residents is expected to provide direct feedback on local concerns and challenges.
Gandhi had earlier visited Uttar Pradesh on a two-day tour on May 19 and 20. During that visit, he inaugurated a marriage hall in Bachhrawan, Rae Bareli, constructed with funds from his Member of Parliament (MP) fund.
