The son of Jharkhand Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MLA Janardan Paswan was allegedly abducted near the main gate of Amity University in Ranchi on Monday, prompting city police to launch a massive search operation.
According to the MLA, unidentified persons forcibly took away his son, who is a student at the university. He alleged that the assailants assaulted the student before bundling him into a vehicle and fleeing the area.
Initial information suggested that the student had gone to the university on Monday. Around noon, several people reportedly arrived near the campus gate in Scorpio and Thar SUVs. Paswan claimed that three to four Scorpio vehicles carrying several people were involved in the incident.
The MLA said his son’s Thar SUV was later found parked outside the university gate. He informed senior Ranchi police officials and urged them to ensure the student’s safe recovery at the earliest.
Following the complaint, senior police officers deployed multiple teams and launched an extensive investigation. Police are examining CCTV footage from the university campus and surrounding areas to identify the vehicles allegedly used in the abduction, track their movements and establish the route taken by the suspected abductors.
Surveillance has also been intensified on major roads leading out of Ranchi district, with vehicle-checking points established at key locations.
Investigators are questioning the student’s friends, acquaintances and other persons familiar with the circumstances to gather information about the incident and identify those involved.
Police are also examining possible motives behind the alleged abduction while continuing efforts to trace the missing student and secure his safe recovery.
