Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan attended a prize distribution function as the chief guest at Guru Nanak Dev B.Ed. College in Majatri, SAS Nagar, where meritorious students from local schools were honoured for their academic achievements.
The event was organised by social service organisation ‘Insaniat’ with the objective of recognising outstanding students and encouraging the pursuit of higher education in the region. During the function, Sandhwan also unveiled the model of Insaniat’s proposed new building.
Former Chairman of the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes, Jasvir Singh Garhi, also attended the event.
While felicitating the students, Sandhwan appreciated their academic performance and encouraged them to maintain their focus, dedication and hard work. He urged them to set ambitious career goals, including appearing for civil services examinations and pursuing professional courses, and to work determinedly towards achieving leading positions in their respective fields.
Addressing the gathering, the Speaker said recognising students’ achievements and creating better opportunities for higher education was a collective responsibility of society.
He said education empowers young people to build a brighter future while also enabling them to make meaningful contributions to the development of Punjab and the country.
Sandhwan also congratulated the teachers and parents, acknowledging their important role in supporting the students and contributing to their success.
Principals and teachers from various schools, along with office-bearers and prominent members of ‘Insaniat’, attended the programme. Those present included organisation president Captain Nahar Singh Chunni, Bhupinder Singh, Master Kuldeep Singh, Dilbahar Rana, Paramjit Singh Popna, Chairman Tara Singh and Balwinder Singh.
