Bihar NDA Leaders Voice Concern Over Nepal Floods; Jitan Ram Manjhi Blames China

Patna, August 27, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders in Bihar on Thursday expressed concern over the devastation caused by floods in Nepal and warned that water flowing downstream could pose a threat to parts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Saran Rajiv Pratap Rudy expressed grief over the loss of lives in Nepal and said accurately forecasting natural events such as cloudbursts remained a major challenge.

Rudy stressed the need for greater discussion and improved preparedness to ensure a more effective response to such disasters.

Bihar Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal described the situation extending from Nepal into Bihar and Uttar Pradesh as a natural disaster. He appealed for prayers to minimise the loss of life and property and said the crisis would have to be faced collectively.

Rashtriya Lok Manch (RLM) national president and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha also expressed concern over the destruction in Nepal. He conveyed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and voiced concern over reports that Indians were among those still missing.

Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, however, attributed the flooding to China and questioned whether the situation could have been mitigated had water been retained in Tibet.

Manjhi argued that China, which controls Tibet, could have taken measures to hold back water there and questioned why adequate steps were not taken. He said the situation in Nepal might have been less severe had the water been contained, potentially reducing the threat to Bihar.

He acknowledged the scale of destruction in Nepal, including deaths and damage to homes and property, and warned that water flowing downstream from Nepal could create flooding risks in parts of Bihar.

At the same time, Manjhi said the situation in Bihar was less serious than initially feared and expressed confidence in the state government’s preparedness.

He said the administration remained on alert and that relief and rescue arrangements were being put in place to deal with any possible emergency.
