The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday released a step-by-step video guide to help candidates appearing for the UGC NET June 2026 examination raise objections against the provisional answer key.
In a message posted on X, the NTA advised candidates to challenge the provisional answers only if they identify discrepancies and to submit valid supporting evidence along with their objections.
“The provisional answer key is provisional for a reason,” the agency said, adding that academically incorrect answers can be challenged within the prescribed window. It said valid objections would be examined by subject experts and the final answer key would be prepared on the basis of their assessment.
The NTA has already released provisional answer keys for 84 subjects. Candidates can access their question papers and recorded responses through the official UGC NET website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
The deadline for submitting challenges is August 18. Candidates must pay a processing fee of Rs 200 for each question challenged.
The provisional key enables candidates to compare their recorded responses with the NTA’s answers, identify discrepancies, raise challenges and calculate their probable scores ahead of the final results.
However, provisional answer keys for three subjects — English, Commerce and Sociology — are being handled separately. According to the NTA, a committee was constituted to examine complaints concerning various types of errors in the question papers for these subjects. A separate public notice was to be issued based on the committee’s recommendations.
To access the provisional answer key, candidates need to visit the official UGC NET website and select the link for the UGC NET June 2026 Answer Key. They must then log in using their application number and password or date of birth, depending on the available login option.
After successful login, candidates can view their provisional answer key, recorded response sheet and question paper. They should carefully compare their responses with the provisional key before submitting any challenge.
Candidates who identify an incorrect answer or discrepancy can file an objection through the designated online process and pay the applicable Rs 200 fee for each challenge.
Following scrutiny of the objections, the NTA will take appropriate action and prepare the final answer key. Candidates have also been advised to download and preserve copies of their answer key, recorded responses and question paper for future reference.
