Two Baloch civilians, including a 17-year-old girl, have allegedly been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security personnel in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district, according to human rights organisation Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ).
The organisation said Abdul Qadoos Zarakzai and his minor daughter Aqsa were allegedly taken by Pakistani security personnel from the Civil Colony in Khuzdar on August 5.
Condemning the reported disappearances, BVJ called on human rights organisations and the wider public to demand the immediate disclosure of their whereabouts and their safe return to their family.
The latest allegations come amid claims by rights groups of continuing enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings across Balochistan.
Last week, the Baloch National Movement’s Human Rights Department, Paank, alleged that four civilians had been killed and four others forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces.
Paank said the bodies of Inayat Ullah, Salman Bangulzai, Attahullah Baloch and Haibatan were subsequently recovered, describing the cases as part of a pattern in which people are allegedly taken into custody or disappear without judicial oversight and later found dead.
The organisation also alleged that four Baloch youths were forcibly disappeared from different parts of the province. They were identified as 24-year-old Kamran Jumma, 19-year-old Najeebullah Baloch, 19-year-old Muzammil and 17-year-old Jaleel.
Paank called on Pakistani authorities to disclose the whereabouts of the four youths, ensure their safety and release them unless they are formally charged with a recognised offence and produced before an independent and impartial court.
The rights group urged the Pakistan government, the United Nations and the international community to take urgent measures to address allegations of enforced disappearances and ensure accountability for those responsible.
Rights organisations have repeatedly raised concerns over alleged enforced disappearances, custodial torture and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan. Pakistani authorities have previously disputed or rejected such allegations.
