Four Baloch civilians were allegedly forcibly disappeared during security raids in Balochistan’s Kech district, while a separate rights group reported that the mutilated body of an elderly man who had allegedly been missing for nearly a month was found in Hub Chowki, according to rights organisations.
Paank, the Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement, said on Saturday that personnel allegedly belonging to Pakistan’s Frontier Corps (FC) and Military Intelligence (MI) took four young men from their homes in the Bit Buleda area of Kech on August 6.
The organisation identified those allegedly missing as Yasir, 18, Shams Ur Rehman, 21, Saifullah, 24, and Shay Haq, 20.
Paank said the whereabouts of the four remained unknown after their alleged abductions, leaving their families distressed. It described the incidents as part of a continuing pattern of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, alleging that people are detained without due legal process and that families are denied information about their relatives.
The rights body urged Pakistani authorities to disclose the whereabouts of the four men, ensure their safety and either release them or produce them before a court in accordance with due process.
It also called on national and international human rights organisations, including United Nations human rights mechanisms, to take up the matter and seek accountability.
In a separate development, the Baloch Students Organisation (BSO)-Azad alleged that the mutilated body of 80-year-old Haibtan Baloch, son of Malo Marri and a resident of Bela, was found near Gharibabad on Sakuran Road in the Hub Chowki area on Saturday.
According to the organisation, Haibtan Baloch had allegedly been forcibly disappeared from Bela Cross on July 9. His body was reportedly recovered nearly a month later.
BSO-Azad accused the Pakistani state of continuing a “kill and dump” policy in Balochistan.
The allegations could not be independently verified from official sources.
