India’s top-ranked para table tennis player Nurjahan Noorali Jamani is set to compete at the ITTF World Para Future Lahti 2026 in Finland from August 28 to 30, aiming to build on her impressive performance at the recent tournament in Kazakhstan.
Currently ranked World No. 27 and Asia No. 8 in her classification, Nurjahan reached the quarterfinals of the ITTF World Para Future Aktobe in Kazakhstan, narrowly missing a place in the semifinals by just two points. The performance has boosted her confidence ahead of another key ranking event at the Pajulahti Olympic Training Center in Lahti.
“Reaching the quarterfinals in Kazakhstan and coming so close has given me a lot of confidence going into Finland. I want to build on that performance and go even further. My goal is to win the tournament. Adani Sportsline’s support has been instrumental in helping me compete consistently at the highest level, and I am truly grateful for it,” Nurjahan said.
The upcoming tournament carries added significance as Nurjahan is targeting a place among Asia’s top six players in her category to qualify for the 2026 Asian Para Games, scheduled to be held in Nagoya, Japan, from October 18 to 24.
Diagnosed with polio at the age of five, Nurjahan returned to competitive table tennis in 2022 and has since enjoyed a rapid rise. She successfully defended her title at the UTT Para Senior National Championship 2025-26 in Indore after earlier winning the UTT National Para Table Tennis Championship, achievements that helped her become India’s No. 1 player in her category.
Based in Ahmedabad, Nurjahan works as a Junior Officer with Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL). Through Adani Sportsline’s ‘Garv Hai’ initiative, she receives comprehensive support, including tournament planning, coaching, performance monitoring and assistance for international competitions.
With qualification for the Asian Para Games on the line, a strong performance in Finland could significantly improve her continental ranking and strengthen her chances of representing India at the prestigious event in Japan.
