Singer and music composer Khatija Rahman, daughter of Oscar-winning music maestro A.R. Rahman, has shared glimpses of her first visit to Tamil Nadu’s picturesque hill station Kodaikanal, describing the experience as refreshing and healing.
Taking to Instagram, Khatija shared a note about her trip and said the scenic beauty of the mountains, colourful flowers and memorable rides left her rejuvenated.
“My first time to Kodaikanal. Had a wonderful time and felt rejuvenated after this amazing trip. The colourful flowers along the path and the steep rides across the mountains was memorable. The blue flowers were the highlights from my trip. God is great, nature heals,” she wrote.
On the professional front, Khatija recently lent her voice to the song “Until We Meet Again” from the Arabic film “Baab”, directed by Nayla Al Khaja, the United Arab Emirates’ first woman filmmaker.
The song features vocals by Khatija along with her father A.R. Rahman, who has composed the music for the film.
Khatija has also ventured into music composition with director Halitha Shameem’s Tamil film “Minmini”. Sharing her experience of working on the project, she had earlier described it as an emotional journey centred around survivor’s guilt.
“It has been a unique journey working with you Halitha Shameem ma’am. Getting to know you as a human being, your warmth, the kindness, the passion you have for filmmaking and the way with which you deal with things, has been inspiring,” she had written.
She thanked the filmmaker for trusting her and supporting her throughout the project, while also expressing gratitude towards her family for encouraging her musical journey.
Before composing for “Minmini”, Khatija gained recognition for her music video “Farishton”, which received several accolades, including the Best Animation Music Video award at the International Sound Future Awards.
Although the honour was credited to A.R. Rahman as the music director and producer of the video, the veteran composer had publicly acknowledged that he considered the project to be his daughter Khatija’s creative work.
