The Punjab Government has promoted 15 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) of the Punjab Police Service (PPS) to the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) on an officiating basis.

The promotions were approved by the Department of Home Affairs and Justice following the recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC), which met on June 9, 2026. The promotion orders were issued on July 17, 2026.

The officers promoted as officiating Superintendents of Police are:

According to the government notification, the promotions are purely officiating and will remain subject to the prescribed terms and conditions laid down by the Punjab Government.

The promoted officers will be required to furnish the prescribed undertaking before assuming charge. The order also makes it clear that the promotions shall remain subject to the recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee and the outcome of any pending proceedings, wherever applicable.

The notification further provides that if any senior officer, who could not be considered due to disciplinary, criminal or other pending proceedings, is subsequently found eligible for promotion, such officer will be promoted from the due date. In that eventuality, the junior-most officer promoted under the present order may be reverted in accordance with the prescribed waterfall mechanism.
