New Delhi, October 5, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Kerala Congress MP and UDF convener Adoor Prakash has confirmed that he submitted a complaint against Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, escalating the differences within the party to the national leadership.

Prakash reached New Delhi on Monday and met Kharge as part of his efforts to raise his concerns with the Congress high command. He is understood to have submitted a written complaint alleging that Satheesan has been taking important government and UDF decisions without adequate consultation with the alliance and the party.

Emerging from his meeting with Kharge, Prakash was asked repeatedly by reporters whether he had submitted a complaint against Satheesan. He responded with a single word: “Yes.”

Prakash is staying in the national capital and is also expected to seek a meeting with Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.

The dispute centres on Prakash’s allegation that key decisions involving the government and the UDF have been taken without adequate consultation with him in his capacity as alliance convener. He has maintained that his objections stem from his own experience and that he acted independently.

Kerala Congress president and Power Minister Sunny Joseph has sought to prevent the dispute from spilling further into the public domain, saying party matters should preferably be discussed within the organisation. He also said every party leader has the right to meet the high command.

The Satheesan camp is closely watching Prakash’s meetings with the central leadership, while there are indications that leaders supporting the Chief Minister may also present their position before the high command.

The confrontation has revived the issue of factional politics within the Kerala Congress, where competing leadership groups have historically played a significant role in the functioning of the state unit.

The latest dispute comes around four months after the Congress-led UDF government assumed office. The delay in organisational restructuring, including the appointment of a new state Congress president after Sunny Joseph took charge of the Power Ministry, has also become part of the wider political backdrop.

With both sides now looking towards the central leadership, the focus is on how the Congress high command handles the differences between Prakash and Satheesan and whether the dispute remains an internal organisational matter or develops into a wider factional confrontation.
