The three-month-old Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led Tamil Nadu government secured investment commitments worth Rs 67,542 crore at its first major investment conclave in Chennai on Thursday, with the projects expected to generate more than 1.2 lakh jobs across the state.
As many as 97 memoranda of understanding were signed at the Vettri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026 in the presence of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, Industries Minister S. Keerthana, Industries Secretary S. Vijayakumar and senior officials of the state’s investment promotion agency.
With the latest commitments, the state’s total investment proposals secured during the government’s first 100 days in office have crossed Rs 1 lakh crore.
Keerthana said the investments represented an average commitment of nearly Rs 1,000 crore for every day since the government assumed office. She said the projects would support Tamil Nadu’s target of becoming a $1.5 trillion economy by 2036 while generating employment and taking industrial development to less-developed districts.
Among the major proposals is a Rs 2,500-crore investment by a diversified industrial group covering renewable energy, electric mobility, automotive services, charging infrastructure and digital mobility solutions. The proposal includes solar, wind and battery projects with combined renewable capacity exceeding 200 MW.
Ramanathapuram is set to receive a Rs 1,000-crore project, described as the district’s first major industrial investment.
The automobile sector will see Rs 4,000 crore invested in expanding a 400-acre commercial vehicle design, research, development and manufacturing facility at Oragadam. Another Rs 2,000 crore has been committed for a new manufacturing plant in Krishnagiri and expansion of existing operations in Kancheepuram.
A Japanese fastening-products manufacturer will invest Rs 1,651 crore in Tiruvallur, creating 4,316 jobs. The district will also see a Rs 1,000-crore industrial park, while Chennai is slated to get a server-assembly facility.
Hosur will receive Rs 1,000 crore for expansion of premium watch, jewellery and electronics-automation facilities, generating 1,200 jobs. A further Rs 2,500 crore has been committed for automotive and electric-vehicle component units.
The space sector attracted investments of Rs 650 crore, with around 2,000 jobs expected, while life-sciences companies announced projects worth Rs 1,600 crore in pharmaceuticals, vascular technology and healthcare manufacturing.
Officials said the conclave reflects the government’s focus on high-value manufacturing, regional industrial development and employment-led economic growth.
