Over 4,000 Young Indians Gather at Bharat Mandapam for ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva Bharat’ Independence Day Event

New Delhi, August 13, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

More than 4,000 young Indians, predominantly from Generation Z, gathered at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi for an Independence Day Cultural Musical Evening centred on the theme “Nasha Mukt Yuva Bharat”, combining patriotic spirit, cultural performances and a collective pledge against drug abuse.

Hosted by Member of Parliament Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, the event featured traditional cultural performances, patriotic musical presentations and a special performance by popular singer Mika Singh. Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, along with several Members of Parliament, also participated in the programme, bringing together political, social and youth leadership.

A major emotional highlight of the evening was the felicitation of families of Indian Army martyrs. The families were honoured in recognition of the supreme sacrifices made by their loved ones and their continued efforts to carry forward the legacy of courage and service to the nation.

Dr. Sahney said the gathering reinforced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of empowering India’s young population with skills, opportunities and a healthy, drug-free environment so that they can contribute meaningfully to the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The participating youth also took a collective pledge to stay away from intoxicants and become active ambassadors of a “Nasha Mukt Bharat”.

Addressing the gathering, Sahney stressed that young people, particularly those recovering from addiction, need more than awareness. He emphasised the importance of providing them with skills, dignity and opportunities to rebuild their lives and return to the mainstream.

He highlighted the work of the Sun Foundation in Punjab in the areas of skill development and rehabilitation, including vocational training for people recovering from addiction.

The event was also attended by MPs Tarun Chugh, Govind Laljibhai Dholakia, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Tiruchi Siva and Ashok Kumar Mittal, besides several other prominent personalities from the national capital.

The evening concluded with a reaffirmation of the collective resolve to build a stronger, healthier and empowered Yuva Bharat.
