Punjab Police on Thursday conducted 630 raids across the state as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, arresting 353 individuals and recovering four weapons, officials said.
The campaign, aimed at making Punjab a gangster-free state, entered its 205th day. It was launched by Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, with police teams from all districts working in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab.
During Thursday’s operation, police teams carried out raids at identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters. With the latest arrests, the total number of people arrested under the campaign has reached 60,354.
Police also initiated preventive action against 262 individuals and arrested nine proclaimed offenders (POs) during the day’s operation.
The Punjab Police has urged people to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and criminal activities through its Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946. The information can be provided anonymously.
Meanwhile, the police continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 530th day.
During the day, 104 alleged drug smugglers were arrested. Police recovered 2.1 kg of heroin, 31 kg of poppy husk, 3,363 intoxicant pills and Rs 1,910 in drug money from their possession.
With these arrests, the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has risen to 75,806 over 530 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 16 individuals on Thursday to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.
