Sangrur, October 16, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Punjab BJP State Executive Committee met in Sangrur on Friday under the chairmanship of state president Kewal Singh Dhillon to discuss the party’s organisational roadmap, future strategy and preparations for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Dhillon criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over what he described as the deteriorating situation in Punjab. He alleged that the drug menace, gangsterism, corruption and worsening law and order were creating serious difficulties for ordinary citizens, traders, government employees and young people across the state.

Calling for a BJP-led double-engine government in Punjab, Dhillon said his party could provide lasting solutions to the state’s problems. He added that the meeting focused on developing the BJP’s organisational and future strategy and preparing a chargesheet highlighting the alleged failures of the AAP government.

The committee also unanimously passed a resolution commending Prime Minister Narendra Modi for completing 25 years in public service, first as Gujarat Chief Minister and subsequently as Prime Minister of India.

The meeting began with Dhillon hoisting the party flag. During the inaugural session, Union Minister Jitendra Singh initiated a discussion on Modi’s 25-year public service journey and moved a resolution expressing appreciation and gratitude.

Former Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu, former state president Manoranjan Kalia, MLA and former state president Ashwani Sharma, and BJP national vice-president and former Punjab minister Manpreet Singh Badal participated in the discussion. The resolution was subsequently passed unanimously.

A key session on “Organisation and Future Plan” was addressed by Dr Satish Poonia, the BJP’s Punjab in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP. During the session, state general secretary (organisation) Srinivasulu Mantri outlined plans to strengthen the party’s organisational structure, discussed upcoming programmes and presented its future strategy.

Punjab co-in-charge Virendra Sachdeva and co-in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP Alka Gurjar also addressed the gathering.

During a session examining the performance of the Punjab government, former state presidents Vijay Sampla, Avinash Rai Khanna and Shwet Malik criticised the AAP government, alleging that it had failed on multiple fronts.

The meeting also reviewed the BJP’s Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra and discussed the party’s campaign against drug abuse. State general secretaries Rajesh Bagha and Rajneesh Dhiman held detailed discussions on the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.

Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak discussed the chargesheet prepared against the AAP government, while Sunil Jakhar, former Punjab BJP state president and former MP, shared details concerning the party’s election manifesto.

The day-long meeting covered organisational issues, public concerns, campaign planning and preparations for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. It concluded with an address by state president Kewal Singh Dhillon.
