Lovely Professional University (LPU) has strengthened its global research standing, with 56 faculty members featured in the 2026 Stanford–Elsevier rankings of the world’s top 2% of scientists. Of these, 23 faculty members ranked among the top 100 researchers in their respective subfields, while nine secured positions among the top 50. Additionally, 12 faculty members were recognised in the career-long research impact rankings.

The recognition highlights LPU’s growing research contributions across multiple disciplines and the increasing international visibility of its faculty’s scholarly work.

The Stanford–Elsevier rankings assess researchers using standardised citation indicators, the H-index and other measures of research impact. LPU’s latest performance reflects the breadth of its research ecosystem and the influence of its academic contributions across scientific and professional fields.

Congratulating the recognised faculty members, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, said, “This achievement reflects the dedication of researchers of LPU who continue to expand the frontiers of knowledge through their work. Strong research institutions play a vital role in a nation’s progress, and sustained investment in research is essential to building scientific capabilities, encouraging innovation and finding solutions to complex challenges. Such accomplishments strengthen India’s research standing and open new possibilities for future generations of scholars.”

The 56 recognised faculty members represent 22 research subfields. Pharmacology and Pharmacy has the highest representation, with nine faculty members, followed by Plant Biology and Botany with seven, Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing with six, and Food Science and Optoelectronics and Photonics with five each.

Other represented disciplines include Biotechnology, Materials, Applied Physics, Legal and Forensic Medicine, Environmental Sciences, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Nuclear and Particle Physics, Polymers, Business and Management, Chemical Physics, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, General Physics, Networking and Telecommunications, Medicinal and Biomolecular Chemistry, and Biophysics.
