Washington, October 27, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

US President Donald Trump has announced a $1 million reward for information about voter fraud that leads to an arrest and conviction, days before the November 3 midterm elections, while saying his administration has begun the process of deporting non-citizens who vote.

Speaking to reporters on Monday before boarding Air Force One, Trump said the proposed reward would go to anyone whose tip resulted in an arrest and conviction for voter fraud.

“I’m also going to be issuing $1 million bonus or reward or whatever you want to call it, for anybody that reports voter fraud, leading to the arrest and conviction of somebody,” he said.

Asked whether non-citizens who vote would be deported, Trump replied that his administration was “starting that process”.

The White House has not announced details of how the reward programme would operate, which agency would administer it or the legal authority under which payments would be made.

Non-citizens are generally prohibited from voting in federal elections, and knowingly doing so is a federal offence that can carry criminal penalties and immigration consequences.

The remarks have potential implications for immigrant communities, including Indian nationals living in the United States on green cards and temporary work visas, who are not eligible to vote in federal elections. Community groups have previously raised concerns that aggressive voter-roll checks could mistakenly flag naturalised US citizens.

Trump’s announcement comes as he intensifies campaigning ahead of the midterms. He is scheduled to hold rallies in Corpus Christi and Lubbock, Texas, on Tuesday, while Vice President JD Vance is due to campaign in Howell, Michigan.

Trump also commented on elections overseas, saying the vote count in Brazil “had a very bad look”, and defended issuing two endorsements in Israel’s election.

Democrats have accused the administration of using law enforcement to intimidate voters ahead of the polls. Election officials in several states have said instances of non-citizen voting are rare.

The November 3 elections will determine control of the House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate. Several Indian-American candidates are also contesting seats across the country.
