Mumbai, October 1, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Actor Ajinkya Deo, who recently appeared in the digital series Brown, is set to portray the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) who led Mumbai’s response to the 26/11 attacks in Rajkummar Rao-starrer Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story.

Speaking about his role in the upcoming drama, Ajinkya said the character required restraint rather than an overt performance. His preparation involved paying close attention to details such as posture, pauses and the quiet exhaustion of a senior police officer working amid a crisis.

The actor said he wanted his portrayal to feel authentic and lived-in rather than imitative.

“What this role demanded from me wasn’t performance; it was restraint. It’s said that during those early, difficult days, he was the one who saw something extraordinary in Ujjwal Nikam that others hadn’t, and supported him to take on the case against all odds. That’s not a small decision to make when the whole country is watching and waiting for answers,” Ajinkya said.

“I tried to carry that weight into every scene. I didn’t want to imitate him but to earn the right to stand in his shoes,” he added.

Directed by Avinash Arun, the film stars Rajkummar Rao as public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. The trailer was recently unveiled at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CST), one of the landmarks targeted during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story is scheduled to release in cinemas on October 16.

Ajinkya also has a role in the upcoming mythological drama Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash. He will portray Sage Vishwamitra in the film, which is expected to release on November 6.
