Mumbai, October 29, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA), veteran actress Varsha Usgaonkar has alleged that the association’s staff members are working hand in glove with Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure. She also claimed that staff members have failed to provide satisfactory answers when questioned about the organisation’s finances.

Speaking to IANS during one of her visits to the CINTAA office, Varsha said employees of an organisation should remain loyal to the institution rather than to individual members of its executive committee. She suggested that this principle was not being followed by the association’s staff.

“The loyalty of the staff members of any organization should be towards the organization and not towards any member of the executive committee because they are not their personal staff; they are the staff of the organization. It came to our attention that the loyalty of the staff towards the organization was very low, especially the accountant,” Varsha told IANS.

She further alleged that when questions were raised about CINTAA’s fixed deposits (FDs) and funds, the accountant responded vaguely, saying things such as “I don’t know” or “I was on leave that day”.

Expressing concern over the controversy surrounding the fixed deposits, Varsha said, “The FD matter felt like a robbery to me. There is a trust. It is the money of the members. How can anybody touch it without their permission?”

The CINTAA controversy began a few months ago when 11 members of its 21-member Executive Committee resigned, alleging autocratic functioning within the association.

Since then, allegations and counter-allegations have emerged between two rival groups, one associated with Padmini Kolhapure and Poonam Dhillon and the other with Upasana Singh and Sahila Chadha.

Upasana Singh accused Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure of allegedly breaking the association’s fixed deposits and transferring funds from a bank account that was supposed to remain frozen amid the ongoing dispute over CINTAA’s management.

Responding to the allegations, Poonam Dhillon maintained that the association’s financial records were accessible to members of its Executive Committee.

In the latest development, IANS has received a court order stating that a show-cause notice for contempt of court has been issued to CINTAA.

The court directed the association not to act upon or give effect to the results of the October 20 elections, in which Padmini Kolhapure and Poonam Dhillon emerged victorious with the highest number of votes.
