New Delhi, October 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has announced its support for the INDIA bloc’s November 1 rally in Delhi over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, raising concerns about the possible exclusion of eligible voters.

Party founder Abhijeet Dipke announced the decision in a post on X, arguing that the foundation of democracy lies in citizens choosing their government rather than governments determining who gets to participate in elections.

The party invoked the principles underlying the Constitution, particularly the guarantee of universal adult suffrage, saying every eligible citizen must have an equal right to vote irrespective of caste, religion, gender, education or economic status.

Referring to the vision of Dr BR Ambedkar and other Constitution makers, the CJP said India’s democratic framework was built on the belief that all adult citizens should have a voice in choosing their representatives. It alleged that the SIR exercise had created concerns about eligible voters being removed from electoral rolls.

The party said the Election Commission’s responsibility was to safeguard the voting rights of eligible citizens and ensure that electoral procedures did not become barriers to participation. It also pledged support to organisations campaigning for free and fair elections.

The INDIA bloc has planned a series of programmes, including a mock parliamentary session and a rally at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital on November 1, seeking accountability from the Election Commission over the revision exercise.

The opposition has raised objections to aspects of the SIR process, arguing that safeguards are needed to prevent eligible voters from being excluded. The ruling side has rejected the criticism as politically motivated and maintained that the Election Commission operates independently.

The CJP said its support for the rally was guided by the broader principle of protecting democratic participation rather than partisan considerations.
